The 3rd volume of the WOCE Hydrographic Atlas, was presented in IORAS, Moscow

“The 3rd volume of the WOCE Hydrographic Atlas, The Atlantic” was presented at a meeting hosted by IORAS, Moscow. Russian chief scientists of WOCE cruises, A. Sokov, B. Terechtchenkov and M. Koshlyakov were present. After some 10 years of work the Atlas, together with the digital WOCE Global Hydrographic Climatology – already published in 2004- describes in detail the hydrographic situation of the last decade of the 20th century. It is a reference of the state of the ocean. So far the Atlases for the Southern and the Pacific Ocean have been printed, the Indian Ocean volume is scheduled for later this year. “We are proud to present this Atlas here in Moscow, following the great tradition of Russian map- and chart-makers” said Peter Koltermann.”
